Tour

After a nice ascent with snowshoes through forest and open spaces, you will be welcomed by our guides to the igloo building site at Schliersee. After a short introduction to the tools, the so-called "snow saw", you are ready to start.

First of all, the ground must be levelled so that the igloo later has a stable foundation. The "quarry" also has to be well prepared so that stable blocks of as equal a size as possible can be sawn. Building block by building block, the building now grows out of snow and ice. Mutual support and assistance are essential here.

In the nearby mountain hut, the Obere Firstalm, we can then fortify ourselves with a hearty meal at lunchtime before heading off to the second part of the igloo building workshop.

When the so-called keystone has been fitted and the final embellishment work has been completed, the obligatory group photo at the finished igloo is of course not to be missed. In the early evening, everyone takes the Zipflbob down into the valley at high speed. This eventful day will certainly stay with you for a long time.

This tour was a real experience. In perfect weather we trudged with snowshoes from Schliersee to the Obere Firstalm where we built the igloo. It was a lot of fun and our guide was able to teach us well what we should pay attention to so that it succeeds. On the way to the Bodenschneidhaus we had to walk back a bit because one of the participants was overwhelmed with the slope. Sometimes the guide ran a bit fast so that the group did not run together. But he also stopped again and again to wait for the slower ones. The descent with the Zipflbob was then a really great conclusion.
The tour is in any case highly recommended. However, you should already bring a certain condition.
