Tour

Ahoy, sailors! Are you ready for a ride you’ll never forget? The Isar is one of the last wild rivers in Germany, being allowed to raft here is something very special.

The meeting point for your Isar Rafting Bavaria is at our camp in Lenggries. From there we’ll walk together in full gear (with wetsuit, life jacket, helmet and paddle) to the entry point at the Isar, which is only a two-minute walk away.

Once at the river, you’ll be familiarized with safety topics, the boat and the technique for rafting on the Isar.

Then it’s into the water! The calm opening section invites you to take swimming breaks. Too boring? Just wait! For adrenaline junkies, the “small Isar cataract” awaits, lovingly called “Isarburg” by us: A section with grade 3 white water that really shakes you up. Here the command is: Everyone paddle hard!

Before running it, you’ll have the opportunity to inspect the section so you can decide whether you want to run the passage or prefer to bypass it. Those who get swept up in this special fun can run the Isar cataract multiple times.

We continue along the foothills of the Alps through beautiful floodplain landscape to the tour’s endpoint in Bad Tölz. Afterwards we’ll organize your ride back to camp either by taxi or bus. Isar Rafting Bavaria is suitable for everyone who wants to spend a fun summer day on an idyllic section of the Isar.

Talk to us and we’ll plan an unforgettable trip on one of Germany’s last wild rivers with you!

FAQ

What is Isar Rafting Bavaria?

Rafting is a refreshing and action-packed pastime. Rafting, derived from the word “raft,” is a recreational activity that became popular in Central Europe in the mid to late 1980s. Isar Rafting Bavaria uses an inflatable boat for up to 11 participants to navigate Germany’s last wild river (the Isar). Each participant gets a paddle and sits on the side tubes, while the guide steers from the stern with a slightly larger paddle and gives timed commands. Raft boats can navigate white water of varying difficulty levels.

The view of the beautiful Isar and the lush Alpine foothills will thrill you as you experience your Isar Rafting Bavaria adventure with other participants on a stable boat. Rafting on the Isar is a unique experience in a dreamlike natural setting. The Isar in Bavaria offers beginners ideal conditions for getting started in this action-packed and refreshing water sport.
